Why I became a teacher

Growing up I always loved math. I love the fact that math is always right. When I was in 8th grade I had a math teacher who really loved her students and really loved math. She would always come to our extra-curricular activities and ask about us. Then when I was in 9th grade I had a difficult math teacher and she made me loose interest in math. Those two math teachers are the reason why I became a teacher and specifically a math teacher. I want to help students love math just like I love math.

My teaching philosophy

I am a student centered teacher. I am going to do whatever it takes for each student to succeed. It is my philosophy that what students learn in school will shape the rest of their lives, so it is my job to teach them the best way that they learn so that they will have successful futures. I believe that all students can learn and that all students learn differently. What works well for one student may not work as well for another student. It is my job to find out what best works for each student so that they are all learning. I believe that my job is not to just teach math but to teach students to become critical thinkers. Therefore, I will push students to think critically through projects and discussions in my classroom.
